Russell Brownlie

My career began in Hobart (Tasmania) nearly fifty years ago. My early years were forged with a strong work ethic from my employer who had also been my rugby coach. It didn’t take long to determine ‘we can do better than this’ when it came to the public face of the profession. After a move to Launceston in 1972 (45 years ago) I became involved in ‘Dental Politics’ becoming state president then national vice president of the Australian Dental Prosthetists Association (ADPA). I retain my director position on the national body, a role I have held for nearly thirty years.

As a founding member of ‘The Denture Centre Group’ I have continued the evolutionary change of the profession so together with my fellow directors we now present ourselves as ‘main stream’ dental professionals, a significant contribution to the dental health network in Tasmania.

The recent relocation of The Denture Centre in Launceston clearly demonstrates my desire to ‘continually stretch the boundaries’ in an endeavour to provide better services to our patients. I am very proud of our new rooms.

On a personal note, I am the proud father of our four adult children, three sons and a daughter, who have succeeded in their chosen careers of Defence, Education, Business and Communication in addition to  their state and national sport and music representations. We also have eight grand children to keep us on our toes.

My interests include gardening, home renovating, music and travel, preferably international and spending time at our beach house with our two dogs.

I am a long standing member of the Rotary Club of Launceston, President in 2010 and a Paul Harris Fellow.
